RAIN 9/23: CBS Radio aggregates Philadelphia stations in new website ·Sep 23, 10:07 AM SITE CONNECTS WITH RADIO.COM’S WIDE RANGE OF NET RADIO SELECTIONSCBS Radio has launched CBSPhilly.com, a website consolidating News KYW-A, Talk WPHT-A (1210 AM, The Big Talker), and Sports WIP-A with O&O KYW-TV (CBS 3). The site itself features local news, sports and video.
However, accessing the station’s online simulcasts through a large “Listen Live” link brings users away from the Philadelphia site and to Radio.com — CBS Interactive’s platform for CBS Radio stations, Last.fm, AOL Radio and other streams. Users can there listen to KYW 1060, WIP 610 or 1210AM, or easily browse other simulcasts and pureplay streams. This should help introduce Philadelphia listeners to CBS Radio’s wide range of Internet radio offerings — a smart move on the company’s part. CBS Radio has previously launched similar local sites for New York and Los Angeles. COLEMAN INSIGHTS TO DEBUT NEW STREAMING STUDY AT RAIN SUMMIT EASTThe upcoming RAIN Summit East (which kicks off in Washington D.C. in less than a week!) will feature the exclusive debut of Coleman Insights’ “Successful Streaming Audio Strategies” presentation — a major study of the streaming audio marketplace. The study “will focus on areas such as branding, consumer loyalty and product attributes and how those findings vary by consumer segments and between Internet-only and AM/FM radio streams,” said Coleman Insights VP Sam Milkman.
The comparison of Internet-only and AM/FM streams should be particularly fascinating in the wake of recent data from Bridge Ratings which showed consumers’ dissatisfaction with simulcasts (RAIN coverage here).
