RAIN 2/1: Sixty million in U.S. will listen to Net radio this week, study says
A study from Bridge Ratings found that 60 million Americans listen to some form of Internet radio in a typical week. Of those who listen to Internet radio, 84% regularly listen to AM/FM simulcasts while 62% regularly listen to Internet-only streams. Find our full coverage here.
RAIN 2/15: CBS Radio cuts off streams outside of U.S.
CBS Radio announced that they were shutting down access to their online radio streams from outside the U.S. due to music royalty issues. As RAIN noted then, that meant that neither of the 2 top webcasters (according to Ando Media’s Webcast Metrics), Pandora and CBS Radio, were available outside the U.S. Read more here.
RAIN 2/24: Carmaker Mini uses iPhone’s 3G for built-in Internet radio
Carmaker Mini joined Ford in announcing an in-car Internet radio system called Mini Connected. The system offers a web radio app that uses the Apple iPhone data connection to stream from a selection of Internet radio stations. Continue reading here.
RAIN 3/16: Online radio pioneer KPIG turns to subscriptions to manage royalty burden
Freedom, CA-based KPIG began charging a subscription fee to access its online stream as a well to contain royalty costs. Subscriptions cost a little over $5/month. RAIN has more coverage here.
RAIN 3/15: Pandora CEO Kennedy’s keynote, expert panels highlight successful RAIN Summit North
The first-ever RAIN Summit North in Toronto featured Pandora CEO Joe Kennedy plus a line-up of great discussions abou copyright tariffs in Canada and the U.S., features of digital services for radio from several vendors, online ad revenues, and trends in mobile delivery. Continue reading here.
