EXECS FROM IAB, PANDORA, LIQUID COMPASS TO APPEAR AT FALL CONFERENCE

We’re less than a week away from RAIN Summit Chicago, this year’s early-fall edition of the Internet radio industry’s premiere conference.

We’re looking forward to hearing from Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Vice President of Member Services Michael Theodore who will moderate our panel, “Mobile Streaming — Making It Work.” The panel will feature a discussion on how to win at the mobile streaming game.

Liquid Compass founder and CEO Zackary Lewis will join us too, as part of the “Give Listeners What They Want” panel. It’ll offer a look at how experts use programming features like on-demand streaming, skipping, time shifting and ad-free listening to expand their audience and brand.

Doug Sterne, Pandora’s Vice President of Audio Sales, will appear on the panel “How to Advertise to Mobile Listeners.” That panel will feature a discussion on the best tools for boosting responses to mobile audio ads.

It’s not too late to register. True, we’re near the sell-out point, but there are still indeed a limited number of passes available. You can register to attend right now using your credit card or PayPal account via the RAIN Summit Eventbrite page here.

RAIN Summit Chicago 2011 is sponsored (in part) by Listener Driven Radio, The Media Audit and Radio Loyalty.

PANDORA CEO: WEB’S AD ADVANTAGES PUSHING RADIO TO A “TIPPING POINT

Pandora CEO Joe Kennedy (pictured left) told the audience at a Citigroup investment conference in New York yesterday that, thanks in part to improved advertising opportunities, the radio industry is adopting Internet delivery over terrestrial radio. He said the industry is “at a tipping point.”

Additionally, Kennedy said that Pandora is putting “tremendous focus” on “improving our revenue per hour.”

The Wall Street Journal reports (here): “Kennedy said Pandora’s advantages over terrestrial radio include interactions with listeners that provide opportunities for visual ads and targeted advertising because its listeners register for Pandora online.”

TV-MAKERS TO DEFINE STANDARD FOR TV APPS

LG, Sharp and Philips are “joining forces” to create a development kit for web-connected TV applications, essentially creating a common standard for developers. This is good news for anyone hoping to gain a presence on new Internet-connected TVs, including webcasters.

Pandora, TuneIn Radio, Last.fm and others already have a strong presence on TV devices like Boxee, Roku and others. Engadget has more coverage here. You can read more about Internet radio on TVs here.
