PANDORA CEO: WEB’S AD ADVANTAGES PUSHING RADIO TO A “TIPPING POINT”Pandora CEO Joe Kennedy (pictured left) told the audience at a Citigroup investment conference in New York yesterday that, thanks in part to improved advertising opportunities, the radio industry is adopting Internet delivery over terrestrial radio. He said the industry is “at a tipping point.”
Additionally, Kennedy said that Pandora is putting “tremendous focus” on “improving our revenue per hour.” The Wall Street Journal reports (here): “Kennedy said Pandora’s advantages over terrestrial radio include interactions with listeners that provide opportunities for visual ads and targeted advertising because its listeners register for Pandora online.” TV-MAKERS TO DEFINE STANDARD FOR TV APPS LG, Sharp and Philips are “joining forces” to create a development kit for web-connected TV applications, essentially creating a common standard for developers. This is good news for anyone hoping to gain a presence on new Internet-connected TVs, including webcasters.
