Video demo shows off Nokia mobile's Net radio power ·Jan 3, 11:27 AM From Mel Taylor’s blog: “Watch clip to see demo of the new Nokia n95 mobile phone. It includes Internet radio; the ability to use this device to listen to any online radio station… no matter where you are. “Indeed, this is much more of a threat to terrestrial stations like Z-100 than satellite. HD Radio will fare no better against this killer app. Could this offering from Nokia be just one more nail in the coffin of Big Radio ? “Radio needs to act fast, it’s current local web strategy is not working. A big part of it’s future revolves around the technology featured in this phone…” Read the entire post at Mel Taylor’s “Local Media in a Web 2.0 World” blog. Paul & Kurt – at the time of the last article, I sent in my request for an invitation to Nokia, but never received any acknowledgement or response. Is there a follow-up for webcasters to be able to resubmit? (I used to be able to find archived articles more easily in the last version of RAIN website. Your updated version of the site does not provide easy access to old stories. Either that or i’m blind and can’t find the link!) haha

I must say that this is a great app. for the advancement of web radio. I could not agree more with Mel, that once this app. becomes ‘iPod-ized’ it could mean the end of any over-the-air radio ‘web strategy’. But, one thing, .. however close the end may seem, just snip that time-line by 2/3. Just amazing!
