WEBBY NOM ACCUTUNES PRODUCT OF ACCURADIO USABILITY EXPERIMENTATION: AccuTunes is an experimental new graphical user interface (GUI) for AccuRadio that uses Ajax web design technology to give listeners access to all 320+ channels of AccuRadio on a single web page. AMERICANS STILL LISTEN TO RADIO, ON THE AIR AS WELL AS ONLINE: A survey by American Media Services indicates listening to traditional radio remains common and consistent, even with significant Internet radio listening. 61% of American adults listen to the radio at least once a day — relatively steady following rates of 64% in April, 2007 and 63% in DEMISE OF SPECIALTY MUSIC MAGAZINES HURTS LABEL MARKETING: A Reuters and Billboard story reports that the demise of niche music magazines has record labels looking for new ways to reach these audiences. Harp, No Depression and Resonance magazines have all recently folded, and labels looking to promote their new artists and music to the lucrative college-educated, show-attending, musically adventurous set (that might typically have read these magazines) could suffer. But while the article and the experts quoted point out the limitations of advertising online in blogs and on terrestrial radio, they don’t mention the seemingly logical option: Internet radio channels that specialize in music for this audience. BID4SPOTS ATTRIBUTES CALLS FOR BOYCOTT TO DISGRUNTLED FORMER CONTRACTOR: Customers of Bid4Spots, which auctions radio air time online, have reportedly been receiving e-mail from a group calling itself “Bid4Spots Class Action Lawsuit.” The group is apparently accusing Bid4Spots of sharing customer credit info with third parties, claims the company is “under investigation,” and asks stations to cease participating in Bid4Spots auctions. Bid4Spots says the accusations are totally false and attributes them to a disgruntled former independent contractor looking to coerce the company to settle a matter before litigation.
