NEW CC DIGITAL MOVE MAY INCLUDE PANDORA PARTNERSHIP: Billboard reports that Clear Channel “is expanding its online presence with a number of new services — including a personalized radio player,” the keystone of a pending partnership with Pandora. The digital “expansion” also includes a lyrics page provided by Gracenote and widgets allowing Clear Channel online programming to be streamed through online networking sites. Said Evan Harrison, Clear Channel executive VP, “Online, there is a lot of variety and choice. If we don’t expand our offerings under our umbrella, people will just go elsewhere for it.” Read the full story here).

UPDATE: NOT A ‘DONE DEAL.’ Some reports had the Pandora pact as a “done deal,” but Pandora founder Tim Westergren told Wired’s Listening Post (here), “we’ve been in discussions with them for a while and we’re going to run a very small test at the end of the summer on a couple stations.” Clear Channel debuted its erockster (RAIN coverage here) streaming/social networking service earlier this month.

WASH. POST: XM BLACKBERRY PLAYER A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION: The Washington Post recently reviewed QuickPlay Media’s XM Radio Mobile, an application for Blackberry handsets that allows users to listen to 20 XM satellite radio stations from their mobile device. While The Post says quality is slightly disappointing, the application’s interface appears simple and easy-to-use. More importantly, the application expands the reach of satellite radio for a relatively low cost ($8 a month). Consumers can now listen to XM Radio without any extra devices. Can my Palm Smartphone be next?

BROADWAY’S “JERSEY BOYSGOES DIGITAL: The acclaimed Broadway musical “Jersey Boys” launched its own internet radio station on Monday. Featuring music from the Tony and Grammy-award winning musical, as well as original music from Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, and even other music performed by cast members, Jersey Boys Radio is the first of such Broadway stations. ONDA DEVICE TO INCLUDE INTERNET RADIO AND WI-FI: The newest media player by Onda, the VX777, includes WiFi capability and access to internet radio. In addition to a plethora of supported music and movie files types (mp3, wma, mpg, mp4, swf, etc.), the player has a 30-hour audio-playback battery life, a built-in speaker, and accepts up to 32GB TF expansion cards. With a 4.3 inch touchscreen, the VX777 is the biggest and most feature-laden device to compete with the iPhone/iTouch. Expect it in August. Read the full article here.

INTERNET BROADCASTING GROUP NABS AM-RADIO ANCHOR: Austin-based Internet Broadcasting Group has hired Greg Narag, a news personality on Austin’s KLBJ-AM, as a media consultant. Narag will now help produce the Internet Broadcasting Group’s signature internet radio stations which are developed to promote a specific brand to audiences. The company claims to “turn the advertising model on its head” by incorporating brand messaging into the programing of its clients’ internet radio stations, rather than in separate advertisements.
