RAIN 10/6: Last.fm updates iPhone app; Hanson to speak on online panel today at 12N ET ·Oct 6, 09:22 AM LAST.FM FOR iPHONE UPDATE HAS “BIG IMPROVEMENTS”Last.fm recently updated its application for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch devices, with changes CNET finds “makes the user experience more intuitive and attractive.” Certainly, the first version of Last.fm’s application was nothing special, especially when compared to Pandora’s sleek interface. Now it’s at least as slick as Pandora’s, with Last.fm adding sleek menus, intuitive controls and an overall theme that packs a lot of options into one screen while still keeping in line with Apple’s motif. Ars Technica says the social aspect (or “Facebook” element) is not quite as powerful as it could be, as “there are no tools for automatically finding other people you may already know.” Nonetheless, the reviewer (as well as NPR listeners) calls “NPR’s first attempt at infusing its content with social networking goodness is an overall success.” Read the Ars Technica review here.
