FLYCAST COMING TO BLACKBERRY

FlyCast, the free iPhone application that streams over 1,000 Internet radio stations (including our own AccuRadio service), will be available for BlackBerry Curve, Bold and Storm models beginning November 1, the company announced. FlyCast says its service will be the first of its kind available for BlackBerry smartphones. For more, read Sync Blog’s coverage here.

CBS INTERACTIVE CREATESSOCIAL VIEWING ROOMSFOR ONLINE TV

CBS Interactive will reportedly experiment with a feature that allows *online viewers to chat and interact
while they watch television shows at the same time* — bringing a social aspect to online viewing. The “social viewing rooms” are designed to boost the network’s web audience by “evoking the collective experience of sitting around the living room TV“ and watching “Survivor” or “CSI,” writes MediaPost here.

APPLE EARNINGS GROW ON STRENGTH OF 2nd-GEN IPHONE

Digital Music News reports today on Apple’s 26% earnings growth in the past quarter, crediting strong sales of the second-generation 3G iPhone. Apple sold nearly 7 million iPhones (the first quarter the unit was available), more than the entire run of the first-gen phone. Popular applications like those from Pandora, Last.fm, FlyTunes, and the new WunderRadio (RAIN coverage here) have made the iPhone perhaps the most viable portable Internet radio device yet. SIRIUS CHIEF: MERGING XM AND SIRIUS TECH MAY TAKE 15 YEARS

Sirius XM CEO Mel Karmazin said at an automotive conference in Detroit on Monday that merging Sirius and XM technology may take up to 15 years. The delay is reportedly caused by “new chip sets needed and auto manufacturers’ lead time.” Read more at R&R here.
