ONLINE AD NETWORKS “IN SERIOUS TROUBLE”The economic downturn in recent months has taken its toll on online ad-networks. The Wall Street Journal reports (here) that online spending has slowed as media buyers tighten their budgets and venture-capital funding shrinks. Even AOL’s ad platform is reportedly experiencing “softening in major ad categories.” Ross Sandler, an Internet analyst at RBC Capital Markets, said that online ad networks “are in severe trouble and could be closing their doors in the back half of this year or the beginning of ’09. People are bracing for the worst.” SONOS UPGRADES INTERNET RADIO OFFERINGSSonos users will now be able to access over 15,000 Internet radio stations, including Last.fm and a free version of Pandora, thanks to a new upgrade.
