RAIN 11/11: NPR names web vet as new CEO; Emmis Interactive roster tops 100 ·Nov 11, 09:43 AM NYTIMES.COM CHIEF SCHILLER TO GET REIGNS AT NPRNPR’s Board of Directors announced today that Vivian Schiller will be the company’s new President and CEO, effective in January. Schiller is currently Senior VP/GM of NYTimes.com, the largest newspaper website on the Internet, where she leads day-to-day operations, “overseeing product, technology, marketing, classifieds, strategic planning and business development,” according to the NPR announcement.
EMMIS INTERACTIVE ADDS FOUR CLIENTSThe “spun-off” interactive and software company announced yesterday it had signed KPRS-FM/Kansas City, WLOQ-FM/Orlando, WABB-FM/Mobile and WRAL-FM/Raleigh as clients. Emmis Interactive now works with more than 100 non-Emmis stations.
The company announced in April that it would begin to market services to other broadcasters and local media companies. DELL MP3 PLAYER WITH NET-RADIO AXEDBack in July, Dell announced it would be relaunching its line of MP3 players with devices that were Net-radio ready (RAIN coverage here). The company has since abandoned those plans. The mobile marketing company works with Clear Channel Radio, Premiere Radio Networks, Fox Sports Radio, and NBC among others.“FATHER OF iPOD” REPLACEMENT FORCED TO STOP WORK FOR APPLEMark Papermaster, the IBM exec chosen to replace the “father of the iPod” Tony Fadell at Apple (RAIN coverage here) has been ordered by District Court judge Kenneth Karas to stop work. IBM claims Papermaster’s contract prevents him from working for a competitor for a year, but Papermaster argues Apple does not compete with IBM.
