NEW UK SURVEY SHOWS NET RADIO AUDIENCES GROWING A new study from UK’s Rajar (Radio Joint Audience Research, which measures and profiles UK radio audiences) found that Internet radio listenership has grown to 16.1 million regular listeners in the last six months from 14.5 million in July. Flipping the U.S. listening location trend on its head, 89% of UK Internet radio listeners say they listen at home, while only 20% say they listened at work.

NAB ADDS SUPPORT FOR HD RADIO POWER BOOSTThe NAB has filed comments with the FCC in support of a radio ownership consortium’s proposal to allow stations to broadcast their HD Radio programming at up to 10% of their analog power. HD power is currently capped at 1%. The NAB says raising HD power “will improve coverage, make reception more reliable in moving vehicles, and strengthen signals for building penetration, and reception by portable devices and HD-equipped cellphones,” according to an article in Radio Ink here. HD Radio developer iBiquity Digital, several automakers and consumer electronics manufacturers also support the measure.
