PROFILEThe Washington Post ran the piece today (here) on Internet radio ad firm TargetSpot. “Our business has a good shot at more than doubling in 2009,” CEO Doug Perlson told the Associated Press. His company can point to Internet radio ad campaign sales to Wal-Mart, J.C. Penney and Macy’s. The A.P. even seems to think that TargetSpot’s success could help webcasters facing an uncertain future because of potentially decimating royalty rates. But the article cites an eMarketer estimate of the entire Net radio ad market $500 million, which likely won’t cover what copyright owners are demanding as royalty.
NOKIA ADDS BBC WORLD SERVICE STREAMS TO ITS MOBILE INTERNET RADIO PLATFORMNokia Internet Radio listeners in Europe can now access the BBC’s World Service in English, BBC World Service’s 24-hour rolling news in English, and BBC Arabic, following a deal between the two organizations. European owners of certain Nokia devices can download the Internet Radio application for free from nokia.com/internetradio. It comes preloaded in select Nokia S60 3rd edition devices.
