INDY LATINO RADIO STATION TO USE WEB TO FILL VOID OF DEPARTING UNIVISIONThe departure of Univision in Indianapolis may cause an influx of local media trying to attract Spanish-language audiences once dominated by Univision. Indianapolis TV station and Univision affiliate WIIH will stop broadcasting Univision content after Thursday. Internet and radio may make the biggest gains. “The Latino community is open to messages even on the Internet. The reality is that they are there. The application includes the Internet radio features of Pocket Tunes. It caught the attention of RedEye’s iPhone blogger Scott Kleinberg, who writes (here) that Pocket Tunes Radio’s $10 price tag, “seems a little steep but in reality, it’s really not when you consider what you get from it.” The app comes with a large library of Internet radio stations built in, but also lets users add their own streams. It also comes with it’s own web browser, meaning iPhone users don’t have to quit Pocket Tunes Radio to get online and find their favorite streams. Kleinberg also found Pocket Tunes Radio’s sound quality superior to other webcast apps thanks to aacPlus support.
