He found the summit to be an “exciting, content-rich program,” and especially enjoyed the keynote addresses from CBS Radio’s David Goodman and Pandora’s Joe Kennedy, as he writes in Edison’s The Infinite Dial blog (here). But one particular question raised in a panel stuck in his mind: What are your companies doing to create new content suitable for digital formats?
“Radio, and especially music radio, have to take this question a lot more seriously in the near term if the industry is to have a digital future,” Webster writes. “As Pandora’s Joe Kennedy succinctly put it during the summit, online radio is a unicast, one-to-one format, not a broadcast medium. Repurposing broadcast content is table stakes, but to raise the ante radio needs to get serious about creating new, original web content that they own (and don’t have to pay SoundExchange for).” INDIA SEES RECORD 15.6 MILLION NEW MOBILE USERS IN MARCH15.64 million people in India signed up for mobile service this March, according to data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
