RAIN 4/24: CBS leads industry gains in March Webcast Metrics ·Apr 24, 12:59 PM BROADCAST GROUPS LEAD NEARLY ACROSS-THE-BOARD LISTENING RISETop-ranked streamer CBS Radio keeps its top spot in the Ando Media Webcast Metrics rankings for March with a 21% cume bump and an 11% AQH gain (M-F 6a-8p). Though most webcasters — radio groups and Internet-only alike — showed growth over February, it was the broadcasters that had the most visible gains.
As Inside Radio points out, CBS Radio’s average weekly cume of 6.6 million is a million more online listeners than the combined total of the other Note also that industry gains are reflected in ComScore Media Metrix, as the “radio” category experienced audience growth of 8% from February to March (Table 2 here). Aggregate listening to Katz Online Network stations actually slipped since February, bucking the CBS- and Clear Channel-led trend. AUDIO4CAST PUBLISHES RUN-DOWN OF RAIN SUMMIT HIGHLIGHTSAudio4Cast president Jennifer Lane called Monday a “fine, fine day to be in Internet radio,” following the RAIN Internet Radio Summit in Las Vegas. Over the course of the morning and afternoon, digital media executives and entrepreneurs defined their various takes on radio’s future and tackled the industry’s big issues: royalties, monetization, content, and building audiences. FLYCAST ADDS TWITTER, FACEBOOK INTERACTIVITYMobile Internet radio delivery application FlyCast has added a new feature called SongFlyer which lets users recommend and dedicate songs through Twitter and Facebook. Friends who receive such recommendations can hear the received song in full though FlyCast.
