NET AD REVENUES SLOW IN FIRST QUARTER, ANALYSTS STILL PREDICT GAINSInternet advertising revenues dropped in the first quarter, though the slow down is not as pronounced as the drops in traditional media. Online ad revenues totaled $5.5 billion in the first quarter, down 5% from the fourth quarter’s $6.1 billion total.
The data comes from the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers, which stated, “We’re confident that growth will resume as the U.S. economic climate improves. Interactive advertising is the most accountable way to reach consumers—and in this economy, digital media will be a core component of any successful marketing campaign.” Additionally, most analysts reportedly still predict gains for Internet ads this year, despite this initial drop.
