Approximately 140,000 listeners tuned in to the program — “40 Minutes for Health Reform” — live, while another 153,000 downloaded the episode as of midday Thursday. BlogTalkRadio expects a total audience of 500,000 in coming days, reports The Wall Street Journal (here). “The service is likely to see their popularity taken to the next level,” said TechCrunch’s MG Siegler (here). “Obama has overnight thrust BlogTalkRadio into the mainstream,” wrote Zennie Abraham, of SFGate (here).
SLACKER CEO STEPS DOWNDennis Mudd, CEO of Slacker, has reportedly stepped down according to company investor. Mudd will be leaving to spend more time with his family but will remain on Slacker’s board of directors, said the investor. CC CONVERTS ONLINE ON-DEMAND MUSIC FEATURE INTO HD RADIO CHANNELClear Channel Radio has launched Stripped Radio, a digital radio channel exclusively featuring live music and artist interviews. The performances will be taken from Clear Channel’s Stripped on-demand series, which has included artists like John Legend, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Coldplay, Green Day and Silversun Pickups. COMPANY TO BUILD CUSTOM RADIO STREAMS FOR RECORD LABELSrecordLABEL Radio, a business-to-business service for record labels and music publishers, will launch later this year. The company will create customized radio streams for labels “that are looking for a place to spotlight their artists in front of a global listening audience.” recordLABEL Radio president Adam Hazell said he plans to program multiple streams for an individual record label, and he intends the streams to be used on label and artist websites, in-store, in-office, and to be exposed to audiences worldwide.
