RAIN 9/17: RAIN Summit East will likely be "standing-room only"
THURSDAY’S EVENT FEATURES SOUNDEXCHANGE ROUNDTABLE, RAIN READER COCKTAIL PARTY AND MOREDozens of RAIN readers have already responded to let us know they’ll be attending Thursday’s first-ever RAIN Summit East in Philadelphia. The Summit will feature a roundtable discussion between representatives of SoundExchange and the webcasting industry, panels on revenue and audience generation, and a keynote by industry analyst Jerry Del Colliano. We’ll cap it off with another legendary RAIN Reader Cocktail Party for socializing and networking.
While the Summit is free to attend, we’d like to recommend you attend the NAB Radio Show (register here), which looks to be an excellent event this year. The RAIN Summit East will be Thursday, September 24th, at the Hard Rock Cafe adjacent to the Philadelphia Convention Center. Please RSVP by e-mailing Kurt at ‘email@example.com.’

CBS TO HOST ADAM CAROLLA’S ONLINE RADIO STATIONA new partnership between CBS Radio and Adam Carolla will include a dedicated Internet radio station on the broadcaster’s platform.
CBS announced yesterday it will sell ads on “The Adam Carolla Podcast” (which has been available since shortly after Carolla was let go from his syndicated morning show job at CBS’s KLSX-FM/Los Angeles in February). CBS will also promote the podcast across its station and website properties.
Additionally, a new online radio channel called K-Ace will feature “segments from Carolla’s popular podcasts interspersed with rock music and programming selected by Carolla, ‘The Aceman,’ himself.” K-ACE, scheduled to launch September 28, will be available via the CBS Radio streaming platform, Yahoo! Music Radio, AOL Radio, and on mobile devices like the iPhone, iPod Touch and Blackberry.
“The Adam Carolla Podcast” can be heard for free on-demand at www.adamcarolla.com and is additionally available for download on iTunes.
NEW ARCHOS PORTABLE MEDIA PLAYER BILLED AS INTERNET TABLETThe Archos 5 Internet Tablet, which has just hit stores, looks like a great way to access online content (video and audio, like Internet radio) via Wi-Fi or by connecting to your phone’s 3G via Bluetooth. In fact, it reportedly includes an integrated Internet radio widget. And since it’s based on Google’s Android platform, there will likely be dedicated apps designed for it. You can read about its video (including DVR) capabilities, but it handles MP3, WMA, Protected WMA, WAV (PCM/ADPCM), AAC, AAC+, Flac, OGG Vorbis audio files. CBS 923NOW.COM NAMED “BEST RADIO SITE”CBS Radio’s 923Now.com, CHR WXRK-FM’s/New York website, has been named “best radio website” of the year by the Web Marketing Association.
