FIRST-EVER RAIN SUMMIT EAST IS TODAY!

RAIN is in Philadelphia today to host the first-ever RAIN Summit East. The Summit, concurrent with the NAB Radio Show, takes place at the Hard Rock Cafe in Philadelphia (adjacent to the Philadelphia Convention Center) starting at 3PM.

The RAIN Summit East will be a streamlined version of our RAIN Summit we hold in Las Vegas each year. That means a jam-packed afternoon of speakers (from industry pundit Jerry Del Colliano to Pandora’s head of East Coast Sales Les Hollander and more), panels, and even a roundtable discussion with SoundExchange representatives. More information about the Summit can be found here.

If you haven’t RSVP’d yet, please do. Just e-mail RAIN publisher Kurt Hanson at kurt@kurthanson.com. We hope to see you there!

We’d like to thank Ando Media, Pandora, AccuRadio, Triton Digital, Slipstream Radio, SoundExchange, RadioTime and Radiolicious for graciously sponsoring the RAIN Summit East.

ANDO ADDS RADIO ONE

Ando Media has announced that it will now serve the nation’s top urban broadcaster, Radio One, Inc. its suite of ad-serving and audience metrics services. With the addition of Radio One, Ando now measures online audience for 9 of the top 10 U.S. broadcasters.

TARGETSPOT TO REP GOOM RADIO

Online ad rep firm TargetSpot announced that it’s added Goom Radio to its Internet radio network with an exclusive sales representation agreement. TargetSpot reps other pure-play webcasters like AOL Radio, Live 365 and Yahoo LAUNCHcast; and broadcasters such as CBS Radio and Entercom Communications.

Goom Radio, with $16 million in investment, officially launched this month. The service is run by former Clear Channel and Google executives, and features live air talent, professional music programming, and what it calls “high definition audio technology.” Read more about it here.

ACCURADIO INDIE BRAND FUTURE PERFECT RADIO MAKES WIRED’SPLAYLIST

We were thrilled to see Wired spotlight AccuRadio’s Future Perfect Radio webcast in its “Playlist” section in the October issue. “Music programming isn’t rocket science, but sometimes it’s wise to leave the task to the pros,” Wired wrote. Beyond that, high marks for “more than 25 curated (and) cleverly monikered… channels,” plus “Bonus: no registration required.” Check out the feature online here. Future Perfect Radio (here) was developed and is programmed by RAIN associate editor Michael Schmitt. —PM

RADIO NEWSROOMS USING SOCIAL NETWORKS MORE; NOWESSENTIAL TOOLS,” SAYS LANE

According to a survey from News Generation, almost half of radio newsrooms are now using social networks like Facebook and Twitter to better interact with their listeners. Over half also use these sites as a news source and 30% believe interacting with listeners in this way increases loyalty. “Social media has created a shift in the relationship between radio stations and listeners,” writes Jennifer Lane. “Twitter, Facebook, blogs on your website, these are all essential tools for satisfying and building your audience.” Read her full thoughts at her Audio4Cast blog here.
