RAIN 9/24: We're in Philly for the RAIN Summit East ·Sep 24, 07:36 AM FIRST-EVER RAIN SUMMIT EAST IS TODAY!RAIN is in Philadelphia today to host the first-ever RAIN Summit East. The Summit, concurrent with the NAB Radio Show, takes place at the Hard Rock Cafe in Philadelphia (adjacent to the Philadelphia Convention Center) starting at 3PM.
The RAIN Summit East will be a streamlined version of our RAIN Summit we hold in Las Vegas each year. That means a jam-packed afternoon of speakers (from industry pundit Jerry Del Colliano to Pandora’s head of East Coast Sales Les Hollander and more), panels, and even a roundtable discussion with SoundExchange representatives. With the addition of Radio One, Ando now measures online audience for 9 of the top 10 U.S. broadcasters.
TARGETSPOT TO REP GOOM RADIOOnline ad rep firm TargetSpot announced that it’s added Goom Radio to its Internet radio network with an exclusive sales representation agreement. TargetSpot reps other pure-play webcasters like AOL Radio, Live 365 and Yahoo LAUNCHcast; and broadcasters such as CBS Radio and Entercom Communications.
Goom Radio, with $16 million in investment, officially launched this month. The service ACCURADIO INDIE BRAND FUTURE PERFECT RADIO MAKES WIRED’S “PLAYLIST”We were thrilled to see Wired spotlight AccuRadio’s Future Perfect Radio webcast in its “Playlist” section in the October issue. “Music programming isn’t rocket science, but sometimes it’s wise to leave the task to the pros,” Wired wrote. RADIO NEWSROOMS USING SOCIAL NETWORKS MORE; NOW “ESSENTIAL TOOLS,” SAYS LANEAccording to a survey from News Generation, almost half of radio newsrooms are now using social networks like Facebook and Twitter to better interact with their listeners. Over half also use these sites as a news source and 30% believe interacting with listeners in this way increases loyalty. “Social media has created a shift in the relationship between radio stations and listeners,” writes Jennifer Lane. “Twitter, Facebook, blogs on your website, these are all essential tools for satisfying and building your audience.” Read her full thoughts at her Audio4Cast blog here.
