(That’s the third-largest acquisition in Google history, but a distant third behind the multi-billion dollar YouTube and DoubleClick deals.)
The San Jose Mercury News writes the acquisition “should help Google come up with more effective tools for creating and analyzing mobile ads. AdMob says its technology will help advertisers better engage mobile users. Developers stand to make money off their content. And users will see more relevant ads.” Read more here. BRS LAUNCHES ANNUAL GUIDE TO HOLIDAY WEBCASTSBRS Media’s Internet radio portal Web-Radio.fm has announced it will once again feature “Christmas Radio Stations” Online! Web-Radio will enable listeners to browse a growing list of Holiday-themed webcasts and streaming radio stations from around the world. BRS, which has now offered the “Christmas Radio Stations” feature for 14 years, says its already aggregated 70 online holiday webcasts here.
RAMSEY: TRYING TO SELL LISTENERS AN $80 HD iPHONE ACCESSORY IS TREATING THEM LIKE FOOLSYesterday in RAIN (here) we reported on a new $80 gizmo that turns your Apple iPhone into an HD Radio receiver. As we (and the Wall Street Journal) pointed out, it’s easier to listen to Internet radio with a downloadable app. Mark Ramsey today puts an even finer point on it: “Another way to get HD Radio on your iPhone: 1. Download any radio station app since virtually all stations that have them feature their HD channels on them – all for free, no extra gadgets required; 2. The newly supported models include the Tour 9630, Storm 9530, Curve 8330 and 8830, according to the company’s press release.
