LAST.FM STREAMED 2 MILLION HOURS TO XBOX LISTENERS IN FIRST WEEK

Last.fm announced yesterday that since launching on the Xbox LIVE platform on Tuesday, November 17, it’s collected nearly one million new registrations in the U.S. and U.K.

Xbox LIVE is Microsoft’s online multiplayer gaming and digital media delivery platform for users of the Xbox and Xbox360 gaming consoles. Users are required to pay a fee for access.

Last.fm says it created more new user profiles — at an average clip of 300 per minute — within the first 24 hours of the launch than at any other time in its history. But are those new people listening? Last.fm adds that it streamed 2 million hours of music on the Xbox 360 platform to listeners in the U.S. and U.K. since the app debuted. That’s an average of over two hours per new registrant over the past week.

ROBERTS UNVEILS NEW LINE OF WI-FI RADIOS

UK digital radio manufacturer Roberts has annouced a new set of Wi-Fi tabletop radios for the holiday season. The new selection includes the Stream 83i, a bedside radio with a “high-gloss piano black finish,” compatibility with USB media players and access to over 10,000 Internet radio stations. It will be available for £150.

Another model, the ColourStream radio (pictured) won’t be available until 2010 but includes support for DAB, FM and Internet radio, along with a CD deck and iPod dock. It can be controlled via a color touch-screen console. Find out more at Which.co.uk here.

NAME YOUR NEW MUSIC TECH COMPANY WITH HYPEIFY APP

Need a name for your cool online music start-up? Try the Hypeify music tech company name generator (or at least a video of it in action). It’s apparently an iPhone app created by a developer named BennetK’s from the Boston Music Hack Day. TuneKick anyone? Soundify? Check it here.
