VIDEO SITE TO FEATURE LIVE PERFORMANCES, INTERVIEWS PROVIDED BY LAST.FM, CBS RADIO STATIONS

CBS Interactive Music Group — including Last.fm and over 90 CBS Radio stations — will provide content to the new YouTube-powered music video service VEVO. CBS Interactive will provide VEVO with live and in-studio performances, interviews, as well as exclusive CBS content (KROQ’s Acoustic Christmas and B96’s Jingle Bash, for example).

YouTube will launch VEVO on December 9 and, unlike their main site of user-uploaded videos, will control the content available on the VEVO site. YouTube hopes this will make VEVO a more attractive target for advertisers. VEVO will be available here, as well as through YouTube and an embeddable player.

BIA/KELSEY PROJECTS COMPOUND ANNUAL GROWTH OF 16% FOR ONLINE REVENUES BY 2013

In a report on the radio industry’s revenues for 2009, BIA/Kelsey shows that online revenues grew from 2008 and projects they will continue to grow through 2013. While overall revenues in radio dropped 19% this year, online revenues grew to $382 million from $342 million in 2008.

BIA/Kelsey forecasts the number will rise to $459 million in 2010 and by the end of 2013 the compound annual growth rate for online revenues will have increased nearly 16 percent,” the company reports. “Radio’s online assets have proven to positively impact consumer behavior,” said Rick Ducey, BIA/Kelsey’s chief strategy officer. “Now radio has to extend this ability to impact consumers into its advertising efforts. Once the cross-platform model is fully embraced by sales teams, and advertisers learn how to effectively plan and buy radio’s digital and air assets, the revenue will follow.” Find out more from BIA/Kelsey’s press release here. ABSOLUTE RADIO LAUNCHES CROWD-SOURCED DAB STATION DABBL

Absolute Radio has launched a new DAB-only station today called dabbl, a crowd-sourced station similar to Jelli Radio or Listener Driven Radio which relies on online users to direct the programming. Dabbl features no on-air presenters or ads during its beta phase, which is scheduled to last six weeks according to The Telegraph. Users can vote for or against songs online, which affects which music eventually ends up on the air. Find out more from The Telegraph here.
