Wired has an alternative suggestion: just get rid of certain iPhone apps that stream heavy amounts of live video. One example is MLB’s app, which streams live video of baseball games. “Oddly, this isn’t considered a hazard to the network. It’s a featured app that costs $10 for the now-finished 2009 season…if the company really worried about its network, it would bench MLB indefinitely.”
Wired also suggests AT&T try “rolling out network upgrades to better use the spectrum they already own, steeply discount its femtocells (essentially a home or office cell tower) or put up more towers too. But I guess it’s easier to be defensive and blame your network woes on customers to whom you sold unlimited plans.” You can read Wired’s full article here. Players assign tags — “short descriptions of the music that could be genres, instruments or even moods” — to the music or suggest similar artists.
If the player’s tags and suggestions match what other users are entering, they earn points. The more points a player receives, the higher their name rises on Mooso’s leader-board. “With Mooso, we hope to generate some rich data which describes tracks and artists and links them all together which in turn can be used to help you discover new music,” writes the BBC. “You could say this is an investigation into user-generated music recommendation.” Read more about Mooso at the BBC blog here.
