6/11: Ando's March and April ratings show Pandora climbing, CBS Radio down ·Jun 11, 12:19 PM PANDORA UP 26% JANUARY TO APRILAndo Media has released their Webcast Metrics ratings for March and April, which shows Pandora continuing their meteoric growth — now with an AAS (a/k/a AQH) audience bigger than the streaming audiences of the top five broadcast groups combined. The release of Ando’s March and April ratings was delayed, said Ando, due to their “ongoing MRC accreditation process.” As part of that process, Ando has made a few changes in its calculations (more on that below). In Ando’s ranker (all numbers Domestic Mon-Sun 6a-12m AAS unless stated otherwise) CBS Radio showed a continued drop-off from its Fall 2009 audience, with AASs of 124,982 in March and 120,043 in April — down from typically about 140,000 in September through January. From the data provided, it’s not clear whether CBS saw losses in the streams of CBS Radio’s terrestrial stations or in the audiences of CBS Interactive Music Group clients AOL Radio and Yahoo Radio. Meanwhile, Pandora has grown from an AAS of 147,673 in its Ando debut last September report to an AAS of 324,886 in the April report — a compounded monthly growth rate of about 12% per month. Cumulus debuted as an Ando client in the April ranker with a tenth-place finish of 6,413 AAS listeners. Other webcasters held their ground with only slight changes. The April Domestic and All Streams charts for the Mon-Sun 6a-12m daypart are shown below. Ando Media has more charts and information here.
These ratings also include some changes, as a result of Ando’s MRC accreditation process: sessions greater than 24 hours have been truncated to 24 hours, while “all sessions are now time-zone normalized based on our ability to determine the listener’s IP address and its corresponding location,” according to Ando. These changes resulted in “relatively minor fluctuations,” the company said. Ando will be hosting a conference on Thursday, June 17th at 3pm to discuss the ratings and answer questions.
