GOOGLE TO LAUNCH MUSIC DOWNLOAD SERVICE THIS YEARThe Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that search giant Google is building a music download service “tied to its search engine” for later this year, and a “cloud-based” subscription streaming service by next year.
Last year Google began serving links to partners like iLike and Pandora as search results. Google users can stream songs from these services via the search results page. Most likely, these links will soon simply lead to Google’s new service. There’s no word yet whether Google has secured deals with record labels for use of the music. FORD ENTHUSIAST INSTALLS iPAD IN 2006 MUSTANGThe owner of a S197 Ford Mustang has an unusual in-dash multimedia system: a modded iPad [although, we spotted this only days after the iPad first came out]. “The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the iPad was this is the car system I have been waiting for,” the StangNet.com member who uses the name “koach” said. “It was only natural to get rid of that dated CD player and FM radio.” It’s a 3G iPad, so he can pull down Internet radio streams easily. The modder has posted a video walk-through and instructions on how he did it here.
