RAIN 6/25: ESPN Radio scores a new online audience record during World Cup ·Jun 25, 09:56 AM U.S.-ALGERIAN MATCH ATTRACTS NEARLY 200,000 WEB LISTENERSESPN Radio’s online audience reached 180,000 listeners during this week’s U.S.-Algeria World Cup match, according to Ando Media. That’s a new single-stream record for ESPN Radio, nearly doubling the previous record set with the U.S.-Slovenia match.
The match also generated over 660,000 visits and 1.1 million page views for ESPNRadio.com. All Access also reports (here) that from June 11-20, World Cup online programming has generated almost 3.8 million total listening hours and an average TSL of 47 minutes.
Leykis (pictured) also stresses that the site will play actually new music. He points out many artists labeled as “new” on broadcast radio are actually quite old. “This is not an attack on these fine artists,” the site reads. “We are simply asking, ‘Is this really new music?’ …Just please: don’t call us a radio station.” Find the site here.
