The match also generated over 660,000 visits and 1.1 million page views for ESPNRadio.com. All Access also reports (here) that from June 11-20, World Cup online programming has generated almost 3.8 million total listening hours and an average TSL of 47 minutes.

LEYKIS LAUNCHING ONLINE MUSIC SERVICENEW NORMAL MUSIC

Former KLSX Los Angeles on-air talent Tom Leykis is launching an online music service called “New Normal Music” on July 1. The service will kick-off by playing 50,000 songs in a row, none of which are older than 12 months. Listeners can also call in requests. New Normal Music boasts it will have superior sound quality than broadcast and Internet radio stations and that you’ll be able to listen from “your iPad, your iPhone, your Droid, or your Mac or PC.”

Leykis (pictured) also stresses that the site will play actually new music. He points out many artists labeled as “new” on broadcast radio are actually quite old. “This is not an attack on these fine artists,” the site reads. “We are simply asking, ‘Is this really new music?’ …Just please: don’t call us a radio station.” Find the site here.

WESTERGREN SPEAKS TO WSJ ABOUT FACEBOOK PRIVACY SNAFFU

The Wall Street Journal‘s Digits blog spoke to Pandora founder Tim Westergren about, among various topics, the Facebook privacy debacle. Pandora is one of the biggest of Facebook’s Open Graph API partners, allowing users to see their Facebook friends’ favorite artists and channels (RAIN coverage here, here and here). “There were some users who were really upset,” Westergren said. “They would say things like, ‘How dare you. I didn’t give you permission to do this.’

“But we found that as soon as you start talking with people, the amount of tension goes down. It’s really very limited information.” Westergren also discusses Pandora’s future plans for advertising, their deals with automakers and the impact of mobile devices. Read it all here.

SLACKER iPHONE APP UPDATED WITH MULTITASKING

With the release of Apple’s iOS4 will surely come a steady stream of Net radio iPhone app updates taking advantage of the new multitasking capabilities. Today Slacker’s updated app is available, the company announced, which can be used in the background just like the new Pandora and NPR Music apps. AccuRadio’s updated app should be available sometime today as well.
