Internet radio stations, to ensure their viewpoints and interests were not lost amongst those of record labels, large media webcasters, and recording artists, submitted written statements for today’s Senate Judiciary Hearing on music royalties.

I AM A WEBCASTER WHO HAS NEVER WEBCAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I ever actually launch, my Program, my “Station,” will be called Vinyl Gold Radio. The core music will be instrumental hit recordings from 50’s thru Vinyl LP era, especially stereo demo recordings, plus more modern, and much older, instrumental music of all types from all time periods, and from every country.
BUT I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO LAUNCH because I have been waiting since about 2001 to see what my eventual royalty would be and who would collect it. By now, I think it is clear that the recorded music monopolies that are using the RIAA and Soundpirates as a front have never been interested in an actual royalty that would be reasonable and create an additional source of revenue for them. As it has been abundantly demonstrated, they know that no webcaster could ever survive the ruinous rates, and mountain of recordkeeping, they have stubbornly defended.
No, their barely disguised purpose is simply to kill a competitor and maintain their stranglehold on 90% of the recording, distribution, and sales, of all recorded music in the world. Think of the big three auto makers killing Tucker motors and DeLorian, attempting to kill Earl Muntz and the 4 track car stereo, and the successful extermination of the Sony Betamax.
THUS, I HAVE BEEN WAITING IN THE WINGS WHILE THE RECORDED MUSIC MONOPOLIES ATTEMPT TO KILL US, the so-called Copyright tribunal knuckles under, and Congress, understandably preoccupied with the Bush administration destroying America piece by piece, has done little to move this along, until now.
Oh, and by the way….I see Soundpirates wants broadcast Radio to pay a fee, notwithstanding all the years they were in bed with the broadcasters, offering payola, etc. We told ‘em to stand with us, but they let RIAA play its game of divide and conquer. As Porky Pig once remarked, “You buttered your bread. Now, sleep in it.”
Two Questions:
1. Is broadcast Television going to be required to pay for music, other than ASCAP and BMI licensing, at least in the USA?
2. Is big business Sports going to require TV to pay for clips of games used on the news? Is the Movie industry going to charge for clips of films shown on late night Talk shows? Will book publishers charge Opra for using photos on the covers of books on her show? Or, unlike Soundpirates, is big sports, movies, and Opra, smart enough to know that the free publicity generated by TV is worth millions and millions?
