The biggest Internet radio event of the year starts today at 12n: It’s the RAIN Las Vegas Summit at the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel, featuring a packed schedule of great speakers and panelists, including Pandora CEO Joe Kennedy (pictured, below right) and CTO Tom Conrad, acclaimed singer-songwriter Jude, and our newest addition to the agenda, former top AM/FM group exec and current Harpo Radio GM John Gehron (pictured, below).

The 9th Annual RAIN Reader Cocktail Party will follow at Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant (Paradise & Flamingo Rds.) from 5:15-7:15pm and promises, as always, to be a fantastic networking event. (If you’re an industry professional, no reservation is required; just stop by!)

It’s easy to attend!

If you’re in Vegas for the NAB, we hope you’ll make plans to stop by for a least part of the RAIN Summit — the hotel is only a 90-second walk from the LVCC.

Guaranteed full-day reserved seats are only $120 (see PayPal link below), but if you’re a terrestrial radio exec at the group or cluster manager level, we think it’s important enough that you attend that we’ll comp you free admission — just write us at summit@kurthanson.com.

Also, for anyone who wants to just stop by for a couple of panels, or to entrepreneurs on a tight budget, we can’t guarantee you a seat, but we’ll certainly at least squeeze you in on a standing-room-only basis. (If time permits, drop us a line at summit@kurthanson.com to let us know you might drop by. If that’s not convenient, just drop by.)

Explore the opportunities at the RAIN Las Vegas Summit

Internet-delivered radio is where radio’s future lies — it offers the one realistic path to audience and revenues growth for radio broadcasters in the next decade. And the best way to explore this opportunity is to join us for this event!

Here’s an almost-final version of the agenda, subject to tweaks throughout the day:

12-12:15 — Networking and lunch.
12:15-12:20 — Welcome from Kurt Hanson and Paul Maloney.
12:20-12:45 — Panel #1: CDN Showdown. Execs from five top bandwidth providers debate the relative merits of each service.
12:45-1:05 — Presentation: RadioNext. Jeff Vidler presents the key findings of RadioNext, a new study of the media habits of online consumers, commissioned by Solutions Research Group, Ando Media, and RAIN.
1:05-1:15 — Royalty update from legal expert David Oxenford.
1:15-1:35 — Panel #2: The New & the Cool (Part 1). See first-person accounts of some of the hottest new programming and product developments including FlyTunes‘s progress in bringing Internet radio to the iPhone.
1:35-2:05 — Keynote #1: The Future of Radio. RAIN publisher and AccuRadio CEO Kurt Hanson shares his view of where radio is headed over the next three to ten years and the vast oppotunities that will open up.
2:05-2:30 — Panel #3: What to Do About HD Radio? Broadcasters have already spent over $647.5 million in cash and airtime on a plan that doesn’t seem to be working. But is there a fallback plan that might work? (Gehron, et al.)
2:30-2:45 — Break.
2:45-3:10 — Panel #3: Helping Musicians & Labels. The Internet radio medium could be a musician’s best friend! Let’s discuss how. Panel featuring critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter Jude.
